Amazing Times [www.geekti.me]

Back in the 1900s when I was but a child, I harboured vague dreams of going to the stars. The Space Race was long gone by the time I came into the world, and America was already on the path to shunning it’s former moon walking glory (not the Jackson kind), but enough residual wonderment from the days of Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins was floating around to influence child-me. Gaming as Art, and Why We’re all Wrong [www.geekti.me]

Don’t worry, this isn’t another piece on the ending of Mass Effect 3, but, rather, a bi-product of the fallout, and an entry into the perpetual debate of gaming as an art form. There are two camps in the Mass Effect argument (three, if we count the silent masses, but they won’t complain if we don’t). There are those who feel the ending of ME3 is broken, and should be changed, and there are those who feel that Bioware should hold true to their artistic vision. These two arguments fall neatly on either side of the “Are Video Games Art?” debate that has been going on for, it feels like, my entire adult life. Read more…

If you haven’t finished Mass Effect 3, and don’t want any details of the now infamous ending, go finish the game and come back. But don’t take too long, this post might not be relevant, come April. Now, onto the spoilers. Read more…

Pratchett: Playing the Innocent [www.discworldfanatics.co.uk]

In an effort to enforce some kind of bedtime routine on my son, I recently started reading him to sleep, a thing he doggedly fights every eyelid-heavy moment of his evenings. He turns two years old in April and as such, is a too young for any of the “must-read” novels I plan to inflict on him, but at the same time, he puts up too much of a fight for any thing more age appropriate. I tried reading Where’s My Cow but, alas, I looked up after finishing the book to find a pair of big, expectant eyes staring at me from above duvet.

I needed something longer. Read more…

Creation Vs. Consumption [www.geekti.me]

If you’re a regular reader of GeekTi.me, and you’re looking at my name below the title and thinking, “Who is this guy?”, I wouldn’t blame you. Despite being a GT contributor for some time, I don’t post nearly as often as the rest of the talented GeekTi.me staff. And, no, it’s not because I’m lazy.

Really, it’s not. Read more…

Book Review: Under a Velvet Cloak [www.goodreads.com]

This book has caused me considerable worry. You see, Piers Anthony was the first author I really read (for my own enjoyment, rather than, say, school), and I loved it. My first book was On A Pale Horse, and I estimate that the following twelve books were all by Mr. Anthony. So, why does this book worry me? Read more…

SEGA: Harbingers of the Future [www.geekti.me]

What’s the future of portable gaming? I don’t claim to know everything, but, let’s face it, I’m probably right. Link.

Explosion Issue 1 – We Have Impact [www.geekti.me]

GeekTime has launched their online magazine, complete with an article written be yours truly. My piece is on potential future hardware in the gaming market, and a look at one company in particular that have pioneered themselves to death. There is much much more in the magazine, however, give it a read. Link.

An eBook World [www.amwriting.org]

My debut novel is out! What better way to celebrate than to write a 1,000 word post about the future of literary media as thought I were an expert… Link.
